“This gathering reinforces something we have advocated for since the Committee’s creation: culture is built through participation. The Quilombola communities are part of this commitment, because we understand that valuing this memory also means ensuring that public policies reach where they truly need to go,” emphasizes Anderson Lima, general coordinator of the Comitê de Cultura in MS.
According to Romilda Pizani, coordinator of the Permanent Forum of Black Movement Organizations in Mato Grosso do Sul, the seminar aims to highlight and strengthen the existing Quilombola culture in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, drawing on the experiences and exchanges of diverse ways of thinking about culture and surviving in their own territories.
