In March 2026, the Aflora Project held a workshop on associations and cooperatives with local Solidarity Economy agents in Campo Grande (MS). The workshop was led by Anderson Lima, president of Oscip Flor e Espinho, the organization responsible for implementing the project.

The training was requested by the agents themselves, who work with family farming groups, residents’ associations, and other community organizations.

According to Anderson, the goal is to expand the agents’ knowledge so they can advise the groups they work with on how to establish associations and cooperatives.

Since they interact with so many people, it would be helpful to understand how this works—both to share this information when they encounter a group that could become a cooperative or association, and to guide those already involved in this context.

During the workshop, participants also received a booklet prepared by the Aflora Project team, containing guidelines on how to establish associations and cooperatives and answers to the most common questions.

It is an educational resource we created for them to keep on hand and also distribute wherever they go. The booklet explains how to set them up, what they are, and addresses common questions.

The Aflora Project is carried out by the Oscip Flor e Espinho with funding from a parliamentary amendment by Federal Representative Camila Jara (PT-MS) and promotes training and guidance initiatives to strengthen collective organization in Mato Grosso do Sul.
