Aflora Project Provides Guidance to Organic Farmers in Brazil's Largest Settlement
Workshop Discussed the Formalization of an Association of Workers Who Sell Pesticide-Free Vegetables

On December 5, 2025, the Aflora Project held a workshop on associations and cooperatives at the Nova Itamarati Settlement in Ponta Porã (MS). The workshop was led by stage artist, performer, and cultural producer Marcus Perez.
Lasting approximately three hours, the workshop brought together leaders who organize a market for organic products, including vegetables grown without pesticides. The group sought guidance on the difference between an association and a cooperative.
During the meeting, the main request was for support in drafting the bylaws and formally establishing an association. For the participants, this would be the most appropriate model for organizing the producers and developing the market.
Nova Itamarati is part of a complex of rural settlements that brings together approximately 20,000 families. The collective organization of producers is one of the alternatives for strengthening marketing and expanding the group’s scope of action.
The Aflora Project is implemented by the Oscip Flor e Espinho, with funding from a parliamentary amendment by Federal Representative Camila Jara (PT-MS), and promotes guidance and training initiatives for groups and communities in Mato Grosso do Sul.
